Ingredients
  • 180g frozen strawberries (you can also freeze fresh ones!)
  • 200ml cold water
  • 1 Tbsp sugar (adjust to the sweetness of your strawberries)
  • 1 can of cold beer (use your favorite lager or ale)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, place the 180g of frozen strawberries, 200ml of cold water, and 1 Tbsp of sugar into a blender. If your strawberries are very hard from freezing, you can let them thaw slightly, or add a little more water to help the blender run smoother.

Step 2

Close the blender lid and blend until the strawberries are smooth and finely pureed. When blended into a fine, icy consistency, it will resemble a thick slushy. This texture is key to enjoying a richer flavor and mouthfeel when mixed with beer. Feel free to stop the blender and stir the mixture occasionally to prevent the blades from getting stuck.

Step 3

Now, prepare one can of your chilled beer. Using beer that is too ice-cold might cause the strawberry slushy to melt too quickly, so aim for moderately chilled beer. While ‘Apple Fox’ beer pairs wonderfully with its fruity notes, any beer you have on hand will work well.

Step 4

Pour about 2/3 of the prepared strawberry slushy into your beer glass or a pretty serving glass first. Then, slowly pour the beer over the slushy. To prevent excessive foam, tilt the glass and pour the beer gently. Pour it softly, with a gentle ‘glug glug’ sound!

Step 5

Finally, give it one last quick blend in the mixer for just 1-2 seconds. This will gently combine the strawberry slushy and beer, creating a more harmonious flavor. Be careful not to blend for too long, as this can cause the beer foam to dissipate or the cool slushy texture to be lost. The trick is a short blend, just enough to mix! Enjoy your strawberry beer immediately. For an extra touch, garnish with mint leaves or strawberry slices if desired.
