Main Ingredients
- 30g agar-agar strands
- 1 cucumber
- 1/2 red bell pepper
- 1/2 yellow bell pepper
- 4 imitation crab sticks (creme)
- 2 sheets of seasoned seaweed for kimbap
Vinegar Syrup (Dressing)
- 3 Tbsp water
- 3 Tbsp rice vinegar
- 2 Tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 3 Tbsp water
- 3 Tbsp rice vinegar
- 2 Tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Before you begin cooking, prepare all the necessary ingredients.
Step 2
Soak the agar-agar strands in cold water for about 10 minutes until softened. Then, drain them thoroughly by squeezing out excess water with your hands. This step helps prevent clumping during cooking.
Step 3
In a small bowl, combine 3 Tbsp water, 3 Tbsp rice vinegar, 2 Tbsp sugar, and 1 tsp salt. Stir well until the sugar and salt are completely dissolved to create the vinegar syrup.
Step 4
Add the prepared vinegar syrup to the squeezed agar-agar strands and gently mix them together. Let the agar-agar absorb the sweet and tangy flavors for a moment.
Step 5
Cut the cucumber into thin julienne strips, removing the seeds. Julienne the red and yellow bell peppers similarly for a vibrant color. Shred the imitation crab sticks with your fingers into bite-sized pieces.
Step 6
Lay a sheet of kimbap seaweed on a clean surface. Spread the seasoned agar-agar strands evenly over the seaweed. Arrange the julienned cucumber, bell peppers, and shredded crab meat on top of the agar-agar. Carefully roll the seaweed up tightly, just like making kimbap. Lightly moisten the edge of the seaweed with water to help seal the roll.

Once rolled, slice the seaweed rolls into bite-sized pieces and arrange them attractively on a serving plate. Dipping your knife in a little water before cutting will help create clean slices.
