Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Hello everyone! Today, I’m introducing a recipe for the nutritious and universally loved ‘Beef and Seaweed Soup’. This is a warm bowl of food that can help maintain the health of your whole family just by simmering it.

Step 2

First, prepare the beef for soup. Heat 3 tablespoons of sesame oil in a pot over medium heat. Once hot, add the beef and stir-fry until it loses its pink color. Stir-frying it this way prevents the juices from escaping and enhances its flavor.

Step 3

Soak the dried seaweed in lukewarm water for about 30 minutes until softened. Rinse the rehydrated seaweed thoroughly with your hands. It’s best to rinse it multiple times to remove any impurities or excess saltiness. Squeeze out any excess water from the clean seaweed.

Step 4

Add the squeezed seaweed to the pot with the stir-fried beef and cook together. The aroma of sesame oil will blend with the seaweed, creating an even more savory scent. Stir-fry for about 1-2 minutes.

Step 5

Now, pour 900ml of rice water into the pot with the stir-fried beef and seaweed. Rice water is the secret ingredient that makes the broth deeper and smoother. Bring it to a boil over high heat, then reduce to medium heat and let it simmer.

Step 6

Once the soup is boiling, add 1 tablespoon of soup soy sauce to enhance the umami. Adding soup soy sauce first gives the broth a beautiful color and a deep flavor.

Step 7

After seasoning, let it simmer once more. Cook over medium-low heat to allow the flavors of the ingredients to fully infuse into the broth. Simmering for about 5-10 minutes is recommended.

Step 8

Finally, taste the soup and adjust the seasoning with salt if needed. The natural savoriness of the beef and the saltiness of the soup soy sauce differ, so it’s important to taste and adjust. You can also add a little minced garlic to your preference.

Step 9

There you have it! Delicious Beef and Seaweed Soup is ready. Enjoy a hearty meal with a warm bowl of rice. It’s also perfect for restoring energy during the summer!
