Seasoning Ingredients
- 1 tsp Minced Garlic (freshly minced garlic adds great flavor)
- 1 Tbsp Chopped Scallions (use the white parts, finely chopped)
- 1 Pinch Fine Salt (adjust to taste)
- 1 Tbsp Fish Sauce (or Anchovy Sauce for umami)
- 1 tsp Perilla Oil (for nutty aroma at the end)
- A little Toasted Sesame Seeds (for garnish)
- 1 tsp Minced Garlic (freshly minced garlic adds great flavor)
- 1 Tbsp Chopped Scallions (use the white parts, finely chopped)
- 1 Pinch Fine Salt (adjust to taste)
- 1 Tbsp Fish Sauce (or Anchovy Sauce for umami)
- 1 tsp Perilla Oil (for nutty aroma at the end)
- A little Toasted Sesame Seeds (for garnish)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, wash the Crown Daisy thoroughly. Trim off the tough, fibrous stems by cutting them into 1-2cm pieces or snapping them off by hand. Cut the leafy parts in half for easier eating.
Step 2
Heat 1 Tbsp of cooking oil in a pan over medium-low heat. Add the minced garlic and chopped scallions and stir-fry until fragrant, being careful not to burn them. Garlic turning golden brown will enhance the flavor.
Step 3
Add the prepared Crown Daisy stems to the pan first. Sprinkle with a pinch of fine salt and stir-fry until the stems begin to soften slightly.
Step 4
Once the stems start to wilt, add the Crown Daisy leaves. Pour in 1 Tbsp of fish sauce and stir-fry quickly over high heat to retain the fresh texture and vibrant color of the greens. Be careful not to overcook, as they will become mushy.
Step 5
When the Crown Daisy is almost cooked, turn off the heat. Stir in 1 tsp of perilla oil and a sprinkle of toasted sesame seeds. The nutty aroma of the perilla oil will further enhance the dish’s flavor.
Step 6
Transfer the delicious stir-fried Crown Daisy to a serving plate. Enjoy this quick and flavorful side dish with a bowl of warm rice!
