Festive Walnut Pie
A Deliciously Sweet and Nutty Walnut Pie for Your Christmas Celebrations
This recipe uses store-bought puff pastry to create a simple yet incredibly delicious and nutty walnut pie. It’s the perfect festive treat, blending sweetness with a satisfying crunch.
Pie Ingredients
- 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
- 1/2 bag chopped walnuts (approx. 50g)
- Pinch of ground cinnamon (adjust to taste)
- Pinch of ground nutmeg (optional, for enhanced flavor)
- 1 packet walnut pie filling mix (store-bought)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, carefully line your pie dish with the thawed frozen puff pastry. If the pastry feels too cold to handle, let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes to become more pliable. Pour the store-bought walnut pie filling mix evenly over the puff pastry base. For an extra layer of flavor, I added a pinch of ground nutmeg and cinnamon at this stage. Remember to use nutmeg sparingly as its flavor can be quite potent.
Step 2
Next, generously sprinkle the chopped walnuts over the pie filling. Ensure they are spread evenly to cover the filling. Adding plenty of walnuts will give you a wonderful texture and enhance the nutty flavor of the pie.
Step 3
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for approximately 50-55 minutes. Baking times can vary depending on your oven, so keep an eye on the pie. It’s ready when the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling slightly. Let it cool slightly before serving and enjoy the delightful aroma filling your kitchen!
