Dough Ingredients
- 1 packet of Hotteok mix (including the yeast packet)
- 200ml warm water
- A little cooking oil (for dough)
Pizza Filling Ingredients
- 1/2 finely chopped onion
- 1/2 finely chopped ham (dice small)
- 1/2 finely chopped green bell pepper
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese (adjust quantity as desired)
- 20 olives (pitted and finely chopped, optional)
Sauce Ingredients
- 1 cup store-bought tomato sauce
- A pinch of black pepper
- 1/2 finely chopped onion
- 1/2 finely chopped ham (dice small)
- 1/2 finely chopped green bell pepper
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese (adjust quantity as desired)
- 20 olives (pitted and finely chopped, optional)
Sauce Ingredients
- 1 cup store-bought tomato sauce
- A pinch of black pepper
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
In a large bowl, pour 200ml of warm water and add the yeast packet from the Hotteok mix. Stir well and let it sit for about 5 minutes to activate the yeast. Then, add the Hotteok mix and mix with a spatula or your hands until no dry flour remains, forming a dough. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a damp cloth and let it proof in a warm place for about 30 minutes until the dough doubles in size. (The dough should be about 1.5 to 2 times larger.)
Step 2
While the dough is proofing, prepare the pizza filling. Heat a pan over medium-low heat, add a little cooking oil, and sauté the chopped onion, green pepper, and ham. Cook until the vegetables soften and the onion becomes translucent.
Step 3
Add 1 cup of store-bought tomato sauce and a pinch of black pepper to the sautéed vegetables. Stir well and cook for another 1-2 minutes. Adding finely chopped pitted olives at this stage will enhance the flavor. (Olives are optional and can be omitted.) If the sauce is too thick, add a tiny bit of water. Turn off the heat and let it cool slightly.
Step 4
Once the dough has finished proofing, gently punch it down to release the gas. Divide the dough into 4-6 equal portions and shape them into balls. Lightly dust a clean surface with flour and roll out each dough ball into a thin circle, about 0.5cm thick. Be careful not to roll it too thin, or it might tear.
Step 5
Spread about 2/3 of the cooled pizza sauce onto the rolled-out dough, leaving a 1cm border. Generously sprinkle mozzarella cheese over the sauce. Fold the dough in half to create a half-moon shape. Press the edges firmly with a fork to seal, preventing the filling from leaking out and giving it a nice shape.
Step 6
Heat a clean pan over low heat and add a very small amount of cooking oil. Place the half-moon shaped pizza bread onto the pan, cover with a lid, and cook over low heat for about 5-7 minutes per side, until golden brown. It’s ready when the cheese is melted and the bread is a beautiful golden color! Enjoy it hot for the best taste.
