Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, let’s prepare the essential sauce for delicious tteokbokki. In a deep bowl, combine 2 Tbsp gochujang, 3 Tbsp gochugaru, 2 Tbsp minced garlic, 1 tsp black pepper, 1 Tbsp oligo당, 1.5 Tbsp sugar, 1/2 Tbsp Dasida, 1 Tbsp curry powder, and 1.5 Tbsp soy sauce. Add the 2 finely chopped Cheongyang peppers for an extra kick. Stir everything together until well combined to create your flavorful sauce.
Step 2
Pour 400ml of water into a wide pot or pan. Add all of the prepared sauce mixture. Place it over medium heat and bring it to a gentle boil. Stir occasionally to ensure the sauce dissolves completely in the water as it heats up.
Step 3
Once the sauce mixture begins to simmer gently, add the 300g of tteokbokki rice cakes. Stir occasionally to prevent the rice cakes from sticking together. Cook until the rice cakes become soft and chewy, and the sauce starts to thicken slightly.
Step 4
After the rice cakes have cooked for a bit, add the 300g of cut fish cakes, the sausages, and the handful of cabbage. Stir everything together so that all the ingredients are well coated in the sauce. Continue to simmer.
Step 5
Simmer for about 5 more minutes after adding all the ingredients. When the rice cakes are tender and chewy, the fish cakes and vegetables are softened, and the sauce has reduced to a luscious consistency, your delicious spicy tteokbokki is ready! It tastes best served hot.
