For the Chips
  • 2 Tortillas
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)

For the Cream Cheese Dip
  • 50g Cream cheese (or 9 pieces of Laughing Cow cheese)
  • 2 Tbsp Milk
  • 1 Tbsp Sweetened condensed milk or syrup (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp Lemon juice

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

To start making your smooth and savory cream cheese dip, place the cream cheese and 2 tablespoons of milk into a bowl. Mash them together thoroughly with a fork or whisk until smooth and creamy. If you’re using block cream cheese, letting it come to room temperature beforehand will make it much easier to blend.

Step 2

Next, add 1 tablespoon of sweetened condensed milk or syrup to the mashed cream cheese mixture and stir well. You can adjust the amount of condensed milk to your preference for sweetness; feel free to add a little more if you enjoy a sweeter dip.

Step 3

Now, stir in 1 teaspoon of lemon juice to add a bright, zesty note to your cream cheese dip. The lemon juice helps to cut through the richness of the cream cheese, enhancing the overall flavor profile and making it more complex and delightful.

Step 4

For an extra layer of flavor and texture, finely chop 4 almonds and a pinch of dried cranberries. Add these chopped nuts and dried fruits to the cheese sauce and mix everything together until well combined. Your delicious cream cheese dip is now ready!

Step 5

Cut each tortilla into 6 equal wedges. Pour enough vegetable oil into a deep pan or pot to cover the chips, and heat it over medium heat. Carefully fry the tortilla wedges in batches until they are golden brown and crispy. Fried tortilla chips are incredibly satisfying, arguably even more so than crackers like Ivy. After all, anything freshly fried just tastes amazing!
