Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, cut the Bang-eo-po into half pieces for easier handling. Next, prepare the spicy gochujang marinade by mixing all the marinade ingredients together in a bowl.
Step 2
Gently brush the marinade onto the Bang-eo-po pieces. Using a brush will help ensure the marinade is applied evenly. To avoid the flavor becoming too intense, brushing just one side is sufficient. When you stack the pieces, the unoiled side will subtly absorb some of the marinade.
Step 3
Place the marinated Bang-eo-po in a dish and let it sit for about 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
Step 4
Heat a pan over medium-low heat with a drizzle of cooking oil. Grill the marinated Bang-eo-po on both sides until golden brown and slightly crispy. Be careful to adjust the heat to prevent burning.
Step 5
Your delicious Gochujang Marinated Grilled Bang-eo-po is beautifully cooked! This dish is popular for its addictive spicy and savory taste. While traditionally sometimes grilled until crispy and sprinkled with sugar, adding this marinade elevates it into a sophisticated and flavorful side dish.
Step 6
[Soy Sauce Marinated Grilled Bang-eo-po] Now, let’s make the mild and savory soy sauce version. Cut the Bang-eo-po into bite-sized pieces.
Step 7
Combine all the ingredients for the soy sauce marinade in a separate bowl.
Step 8
Finely chop the nuts (almonds, cashews, walnuts) that will be added for texture and flavor. You can use a knife or a food processor.
Step 9
Lightly oil a pan and bring the prepared soy sauce mixture to a simmer. Once the sauce is bubbling, add the Bang-eo-po and stir-fry quickly to coat evenly. Avoid overcooking, as the Bang-eo-po can become tough.
Step 10
Finally, add the chopped nuts and sesame oil, and stir-fry briefly. Just before turning off the heat, sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds for a nutty finish. Your savory and nutty Soy Sauce Marinated Grilled Bang-eo-po is complete!
