King Oyster Mushroom Stir-fry Ingredients
- 2 King Oyster Mushrooms (approx. 163g)
- 42g Carrot
- 31g Onion
- 15g Chives
- 0.5 Tbsp Minced Garlic
- 0.4 Tbsp Oyster Sauce
- Approx. 3 pinches Salt
- A sprinkle of Sesame Seeds
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, trim the ends off the 2 King Oyster Mushrooms. Then, cut each mushroom in half lengthwise, and slice them into approximately 2-3mm thick pieces. Slicing them too thickly might increase the cooking time.
Step 2
Next, thinly julienne the carrot and onion to about 3mm thickness. Cut the chives into roughly 3cm lengths. Prepare 0.5 tablespoon of minced garlic; having it ready makes the cooking process smoother.
Step 3
Now, add the prepared King Oyster Mushrooms, carrot, and onion to a stir-fry pan. Pour in 3.5 tablespoons of grapeseed oil. Cook over medium-low heat, slightly lower than medium, being careful not to burn the ingredients.
Step 4
The key to a great King Oyster Mushroom stir-fry is texture! Cook just until the mushrooms become tender and the vegetables are crisp-tender. Stir-frying for about 4 minutes should achieve this. Avoid overcooking, as the mushrooms can become mushy.
Step 5
Once the mushrooms and vegetables are cooked to your liking, add 0.4 tablespoon of oyster sauce and about 3 pinches of salt. Stir quickly to combine, allowing the savory oyster sauce flavor to infuse. Taste and adjust the seasoning with more salt if needed, according to your preference.
Step 6
Finally, add the prepared chives and 0.5 tablespoon of minced garlic. Stir-fry for only about 15-20 seconds. Chives wilt very quickly, so a brief stir-fry preserves their fresh color and crispness. Turn off the heat immediately after.
Step 7
And there you have it! Your delicious and chewy King Oyster Mushroom stir-fry with oyster sauce is complete. Sprinkle generously with toasted sesame seeds for a nutty finish. Enjoy this fantastic side dish with a warm bowl of rice!
