- Olive Oil 2 Tbsp (or vegetable oil)
Fried Rice Seasoning
- Donkatsu Sauce 40g (or substitute with ketchup, soy sauce, etc.)
- Sesame Seeds 1 Tbsp
- Black Pepper a pinch
- Donkatsu Sauce 40g (or substitute with ketchup, soy sauce, etc.)
- Sesame Seeds 1 Tbsp
- Black Pepper a pinch
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the seasoned bulgogi. You can use store-bought seasoned bulgogi or make your own with soy sauce, sugar, and garlic, according to your preference. We will stir-fry the bulgogi with vegetables.
Step 2
Prepare the vegetables for the fried rice. Finely chop the carrot, onion, and scallion. It’s best to chop the carrots and onions into small, bite-sized pieces so they cook evenly and have a pleasant texture.
Step 3
Heat 2 Tbsp of olive oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Add the chopped vegetables and bulgogi, and stir-fry them evenly. Be careful not to burn the bulgogi as it is already seasoned.
Step 4
Once the bulgogi and vegetables are sufficiently cooked, turn off the heat temporarily and add 2.5 bowls of warm cooked rice. Add 40g of donkatsu sauce and mix everything thoroughly until well combined. You can adjust the amount of sauce to your taste.
Step 5
After the fried rice is somewhat mixed, add the bulgogi that you’ve cut into bite-sized pieces with scissors. (Alternatively, you can skip cutting the bulgogi beforehand and stir-fry it with the rice.) Stir-fry over high heat until the rice grains are distinct and fluffy.
Step 6
Finally, sprinkle in 1 Tbsp of sesame seeds and a pinch of black pepper for aroma, and stir-fry lightly to combine everything evenly. This completes the delicious bulgogi fried rice.
Step 7
Now it’s time to cook the egg omelet. Crack 4 eggs into a bowl and add 1 Tbsp of milk. (Milk makes the eggs extra tender, but it’s optional.) Gently whisk the eggs with a fork or whisk until smooth, avoiding too much foam.
Step 8
Heat a non-stick frying pan (about 24-26 cm in diameter) over medium-low heat. Lightly spread a thin layer of cooking oil all over the pan. Too much oil can make the omelet too thick.
Step 9
Carefully pour the whisked egg mixture evenly over the heated pan.
Step 10
Gently swirl the pan to spread the egg mixture thinly and evenly. If there are any holes in the egg layer, use a chopstick or spoon to gently fill them. It’s important to manage the heat well as the egg begins to cook.
Step 11
When the egg is about half-cooked, place about half of the prepared bulgogi fried rice in the center of the egg. Avoid adding too much rice, as it can make shaping difficult. Lightly press the rice to form a base.
Step 12
When the egg starts to lift from the bottom and the top is almost set, reduce the heat to low or turn it off briefly. Using a spatula or turners, gently fold one half of the omelet over the rice. Handle it gently to prevent the egg from tearing.
Step 13
Now, let’s shape it. Gently slide the omelet towards the edge of the pan, then carefully use a spatula to transfer it onto a serving plate. Ensure the rice and egg stay together.
Step 14
Fold the remaining sides of the omelet neatly to create a round shape. Before transferring the omelet to the plate, you can tuck in the sides and ends with the spatula for a more rounded appearance. Briefly press with the spatula to secure the shape.
Step 15
Place the shaped omelet rice attractively on a plate. To ensure a clean presentation, firmly place the spatula on the bottom of the omelet and invert the pan over the plate.
Step 16
Your delicious Bulgogi Omelet Rice is complete! It’s a simple yet impressive dish that combines flavorful bulgogi with a tender egg. Best enjoyed warm right away!
