Halloween Special! Craft Adorable Witch Hat Madelines
Our second baking adventure for a sweet Halloween! This time, we’ve crafted ‘Witch Madelines,’ which are incredibly fun to make with kids. We’ve used convenient store-bought frozen madeleine dough for a quick and easy process. If you’d prefer to make the madeleine batter from scratch, feel free to refer to the linked recipe above. Let’s make these delightful Witch Madelines, adorned with shimmering sprinkles and cute witch hats, to make your Halloween party even more spectacular!
Ingredients- Frozen Madeleine Dough
- 100g White Coating Chocolate
- Halloween Sprinkles and various decorative sprinkles (as needed)
- Paper Straws
- Black Construction Paper
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Using a pastry brush, thoroughly coat the inside of each madeleine mold, ensuring you reach all the corners with softened butter at room temperature. This prevents sticking and helps achieve a beautiful golden crust. Next, fill each mold with the madeleine dough, about one-third of the way full. Be careful not to overfill, as the dough will expand during baking.
Step 2
Bake in a preheated oven at 170-180°C (340-355°F) for approximately 12-15 minutes, or until the madelines are beautifully golden brown. When piping the dough into the madeleine molds (like a 12-cup financier mold), it’s best to fill them slightly thinly. This technique allows the madelines to develop a more delicious texture and flavor as they cool and mature.
Step 3
Once baked, carefully remove the madelines from the molds and let them cool slightly. Prepare the white coating chocolate by melting it gently. You can use the residual heat from the oven after baking or melt it over very low heat. Once the chocolate is smooth and fluid, dip the top of each cooled madeleine into the melted chocolate, allowing a generous amount to coat the surface. Aim for a slightly drippy effect for an attractive finish.
Step 4
While the chocolate is still wet, sprinkle generously with Halloween-themed sprinkles or any other decorative sprinkles you have on hand. To create the witch’s hat effect, insert the pre-made ‘witch legs’ into the chocolate. These legs can be easily crafted by cutting out shoe shapes from black construction paper and attaching them to the end of paper straws. Once all decorations are in place, allow the chocolate to set completely in a cool place (refrigerator or cool room temperature) to reveal your finished, charming Witch Madelines!
