Savory and Delicious Tuna Bibimbap with a Universal Seasoning Sauce Recipe
Today, I wanted something savory and decided to make a versatile seasoning sauce. I’ll introduce you to a tuna can dish that can be enjoyed in various ways, such as bibimbap, stews, or kimbap. Let’s get started with this simple yet flavorful tuna bibimbap recipe!
Main Ingredients- 1 can (150g) Tuna
- 1/2 Onion (approx. 100g)
- 10 cloves Garlic (approx. 1 Tbsp minced)
- 1/2 Scallion (white parts preferred, approx. 50g)
Universal Tuna Seasoning Sauce- 1 Tbsp Gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 1 Tbsp Sugar
- 1/2 Tbsp Dasida (or MSG-based seasoning)
- 1 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- 1 Tbsp Oligodang (corn syrup or rice syrup)
- 1/2 tsp Black Pepper
- 1 Tbsp Gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 1 Tbsp Sugar
- 1/2 Tbsp Dasida (or MSG-based seasoning)
- 1 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- 1 Tbsp Oligodang (corn syrup or rice syrup)
- 1/2 tsp Black Pepper
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, open the can of tuna and let it sit for about 10 minutes to drain the oil. This step helps to reduce the fishy smell and makes the tuna more mellow.
Step 2
Finely mince the onion. Slice or finely chop the scallion, focusing on the white parts. Mince the garlic after crushing it; this helps the seasoning distribute evenly.
Step 3
Now, let’s make the universal tuna seasoning sauce. In a bowl, combine 1 Tbsp Gochujang, 1 Tbsp Sugar, 1/2 Tbsp Dasida (or your preferred umami seasoning), 1 Tbsp Soy Sauce, 1 Tbsp Oligodang, and 1/2 tsp Black Pepper. Stir well until there are no lumps and all ingredients are smoothly incorporated. Thoroughly mixing is key for a balanced flavor.
Step 4
Lightly grease a heated pot with a little cooking oil. Add the minced onion, minced garlic, and chopped scallions. Sauté over low heat until the vegetables become translucent and fragrant. Finally, add the drained tuna and stir-fry briefly with the vegetables.
Step 5
Once the vegetables and tuna are partially cooked, add all the prepared universal tuna seasoning sauce. Stir and mix well so the sauce evenly coats the tuna and vegetables as you continue to cook.
Step 6
Finally, maintain low heat and continue to simmer until the sauce thickens slightly and becomes glossy. When it reaches a rich, appealing consistency as shown in the picture, it’s ready. Top warm rice with this delicious tuna mixture. For extra flavor, add shredded seaweed (gim) and sesame oil to your liking before mixing and enjoying this wonderful dish!
