Main Ingredients

  • 1/4 block firm tofu (approx. 100g)
  • 3 handfuls bean sprouts (approx. 150g)
  • 1/4 bowl warm cooked rice (approx. 50g)

Special Soy Sauce Dressing

  • 3 tsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 tsp toasted sesame seeds (generous amount)
  • 1 tsp perilla oil or sesame oil

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, cut the 1/4 block of tofu into bite-sized pieces (about 2cm). Removing excess moisture from the tofu will result in a more delicious and crispy pan-fried texture. Gently press the tofu with paper towels to absorb moisture, or microwave it for 30 seconds to 1 minute to help dry it out.

Step 1

Step 2

Rinse the bean sprouts thoroughly under cold running water. Remove any yellowed ends or spoiled parts, and shake off any excess water.

Step 2

Step 3

Lightly grease a heated frying pan with cooking oil. Place the prepared tofu pieces in the pan and fry them over medium heat until golden brown on both sides for a nutty flavor.

Step 3

Step 4

While the tofu is frying, let’s make the delicious soy sauce dressing! In a small bowl, combine 3 tsp of soy sauce, 1 tsp of minced garlic, 1 tsp of toasted sesame seeds, and 1 tsp of perilla oil (or sesame oil) for added aroma. Mix well with a spoon.

Step 4

Step 5

Continue to cook the tofu over medium or low heat until it’s golden brown and most of the moisture has evaporated. The key is to achieve a slightly crispy exterior and a soft interior.

Step 5

Step 6

Once the tofu is about 80% cooked and looks appetizing, add the washed bean sprouts to the same frying pan. Stir-fry the bean sprouts together with the tofu.

Step 6

Step 7

Add 1-2 tablespoons of water to help the bean sprouts cook faster and stay crisp. If you want to eliminate any fishy smell from the bean sprouts, lightly season with pepper and a tiny pinch of salt at this stage.

Step 7

Step 8

When both the tofu and bean sprouts are well-cooked, artfully arrange them on top of the warm cooked rice in a bowl. A colorful presentation makes the meal even more enjoyable.

Step 8

Step 9

Finally, generously spoon the special soy sauce dressing over the rice, tofu, and bean sprouts. Mix everything together with chopsticks, and enjoy your healthy and delicious Tofu and Bean Sprout Bibimbap! Serve and savor.
