Ingredients- 800g Pork Belly for Boiled Pork
- 5 Leeks
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare all the ingredients for the dish. You’ll need fresh pork belly and clean leeks.
Step 2
Cut the leeks into large, rough pieces that will fit into your steamer. Aim for lengths of about 10-15cm. This size is good for steaming with the pork.
Step 3
Arrange the roughly chopped leeks at the bottom of your steamer. Placing the leeks underneath the pork will infuse it with flavor from the steam as it cooks.
Step 4
Using paper towels, firmly press and pat the pork belly to remove any excess blood or moisture. Properly removing the blood is key to preventing any unwanted porky smells.
Step 5
Place the drained pork belly on top of the leeks in the steamer. You can use a single large piece or cut it into several smaller pieces.
Step 6
Add an appropriate amount of water to a pot, place the steamer on top, and cover with a lid. Cook over medium heat for about 50 minutes to 1 hour. It’s important to cook it until a skewer inserted into the pork comes out clean, with no pink juices.
Step 7
Test for doneness by inserting a skewer or chopstick into the pork belly. If clear juices run out, it’s cooked through. If pink liquid appears, continue steaming for a little longer.
Step 8
The perfectly cooked leek boiled pork belly will look incredibly tender and soft. Letting it cool slightly before slicing will help maintain its shape.
Step 9
Once slightly cooled, slice the leek boiled pork belly into bite-sized pieces and arrange them attractively on a plate. Serve with kimchi or ssamjang for a delicious meal!
