Main Ingredients

  • 200g fresh Korean beef sirloin
  • 1/2 onion
  • A little green onion (for garnish)
  • A little butter
  • A pinch of salt
  • A pinch of black pepper

Seasoning & Sautéing Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup water (approx. 100ml)
  • 1 Tbsp sugar
  • Adequate amount of cooking oil

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, for the sirloin steak, gently pat dry any excess moisture with paper towels, then slice it to your desired thickness. Season the steak with a pinch of salt and pepper, and coat thinly with butter to enhance its flavor. Let it marinate briefly. (You can omit the butter if you don’t have it.)

Step 1

Step 2

Heat a pan over medium heat. Place the marinated sirloin steak in the hot pan and cook to your preferred doneness. The key is to get a nice sear on the outside while keeping the inside juicy! (We cooked ours to medium-well, but adjust according to your preference.) While the steak is cooking, prepare to sauté the onions in a separate pan.

Step 2

Step 3

Wash the onion, peel it, and then slice it thinly and evenly into shreds. Heat cooking oil in a preheated pan and add the sliced onions. Sauté them slowly over medium-low heat until they become translucent. Once the onions turn transparent, add the sugar and continue to cook until they caramelize and become sweet. When the onions are nicely browned, pour in the soy sauce and water. Simmer gently until the liquid reduces and the sauce thickens to your liking. Finish by turning off the heat.

Step 3

Step 4

Spoon a generous amount of the sweet, simmered onion sauce over the warm cooked rice. Then, slice the delicious grilled sirloin steak into bite-sized pieces and arrange them attractively on top. Finally, finely chop fresh green onions and sprinkle them as a garnish to complete this visually delightful and incredibly tasty Korean beef sirloin steak rice bowl. Enjoy your meal!
