Tender Bell Pepper Hamburg Steak
Tender Bell Pepper Hamburg Steak
Nostalgic Delight! Bell Pepper Hamburg Steak (Japanese Style: ピ?マンの肉詰め)
A dish I didn’t love as a child, but adore now! The fresh taste of bell peppers combined with a tender minced meat patty creates a wonderful harmony. It’s also delicious simply served with mayonnaise instead of tomato sauce. Make this nostalgic dish that the whole family can enjoy!
Main Ingredients- 200g ground meat
- 2 bell peppers or paprika
- 1/2 onion (finely chopped)
- 3 Tbsp cake flour (or all-purpose flour)
- A little cornstarch (for dusting inside the peppers)
- Pinch of black pepper
- Pinch of salt
- 50-100ml water
- About 100ml tomato sauce (optional)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, cut the bell peppers or paprika in half lengthwise and remove the seeds. Then, lightly and evenly dust the inside with cornstarch. This helps the filling adhere well and keeps the peppers moist when cooked.
Step 2
In a bowl, combine the ground meat, finely chopped onion, pepper, and salt.
Step 3
Using a spatula or your hands, mix and knead the ingredients until they become sticky and well-combined. Ensure the meat mixture is thoroughly blended for a tender patty.
Step 4
Carefully stuff the prepared ground meat mixture into the hollowed-out bell peppers or paprika. Shape the filling neatly so it doesn’t spill over the edges.
Step 5
Heat a pan with a generous amount of cooking oil over medium-low heat. Place the stuffed bell peppers meat-side down and sear until the meat surface is golden brown.
Step 6
Once the meat side is nicely browned, add 50-100ml of water to the pan and immediately cover it with a lid. Let it steam over low heat for about 5-7 minutes to keep the filling juicy and tender. Cook until most of the water has evaporated. This completes the first stage. For a different flavor, you can also top with ketchup or mayonnaise at this point!
Step 7
For an even richer taste, warm about 100ml of tomato sauce in a separate pan over low heat for 3 minutes. Serve the cooked bell pepper hamburg steak with the warm tomato sauce. A sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese on top adds a wonderful depth of flavor. Enjoy your delicious meal!
