Tender and Savory Beef Jeon: Enjoy Authentic Korean Flavor at Home
How to Make Beef Jeon: A Simple and Delicious Korean Recipe
I recently picked up some thinly sliced beef specifically for jeon from the butcher, and it was a fantastic find! There’s nothing quite like the delightful taste of freshly pan-fried jeon, especially when it’s still warm. I also had some chives leftover, so I made a quick and zesty chive salad to accompany it. This recipe is perfect for a special occasion or when you want a simple yet impressive dish to share with loved ones.
Ingredients for Beef Jeon- 260g thinly sliced beef for jeon
- 2 large fresh eggs
- 3 Tbsp pancake mix (buchim garu)
- 1 pinch of salt (for egg wash)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Using paper towels, gently press the beef slices to remove any excess blood. This step is crucial for a clean flavor and to prevent any gamey taste.
Step 2
Lightly coat both sides of the beef slices with pancake mix. Sprinkle the powder evenly and pat it gently onto the meat. This will help the egg batter adhere better during cooking.
Step 3
In a shallow bowl, whisk the 2 eggs with 1 pinch of salt until well combined. Dip the pancake-mix-coated beef into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are fully coated with the egg batter.
Step 4
Heat a generous amount of oil in a frying pan over medium-low heat. Carefully place the egg-coated beef slices into the hot pan. Pan-fry for about 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Be mindful not to overheat the pan, as this can cause the outside to burn before the inside is cooked.
