Pasta Ingredients
  • 4 bullet squids
  • 67g ripe avocado (approx. 1/2)
  • 65g canned sweet corn
  • 98g pasta (spaghetti, linguine, fusilli, etc.)
  • 8 cherry tomatoes
  • 21g cucumber
  • 28g string cheese
  • 70g mixed salad greens

Pasta Sauce
  • 36g light Oriental dressing

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

We used fresh ‘bullet squid’ caught in Pohang. You can use flash-frozen products or fresh ones. Bullet squid are smaller than regular squid and have a delightfully firm texture.

Step 2

We prepared linguine and fusilli, but you can substitute with the most common spaghetti noodles you have at home. Feel free to use different pasta shapes according to your preference.

Step 3

When boiling the pasta, cook it for 1-2 minutes longer than the recommended time on the package. Since we will rinse it with cold water, cook it with the intention of ‘boiling thoroughly’ rather than al dente, so the texture remains intact. This is good if you prefer a softer texture over chewy.

Step 4

Boiling bullet squid can cause their innards to leak out, diminishing the flavor. Instead, we recommend steaming or cooking them in an air fryer to preserve their original taste. Steaming or air frying allows you to fully enjoy the fresh flavor and the rich taste of the innards.

Step 5

Using pre-mixed salad greens or baby greens from the supermarket is a convenient option. Wash the prepared greens thoroughly and drain them before use. Fresh greens will enhance the overall flavor of your pasta.

Step 6

Slice the fresh cherry tomatoes in half. The freshness of the tomatoes will further enhance the pasta’s flavor.

Step 7

Arrange the washed salad greens attractively on a wide plate or pasta bowl. Then, artfully place the sliced cherry tomatoes on top to add color.

Step 8

If using canned corn, rinse it under running water and drain well. The sweetness of the corn will enrich the pasta’s taste.

Step 9

After removing the pit, cut the ripe avocado in half and slice it thinly on the diagonal. Slice the cucumber in the same way and thickness as the avocado. The creaminess of the avocado and the crunchiness of the cucumber create a harmonious texture.

Step 10

While the pasta and squid are cooking, arrange the string cheese and various vegetables attractively on the plate. Grouping the corn, cucumber, and avocado to one side will create a neater and more visually appealing presentation. (Leave the center clear for the pasta.)

Step 11

Rinse the cooked pasta thoroughly under cold running water to wash away excess starch. Rinsing with cold water prevents the pasta from sticking together and helps maintain a firm texture. Ensure it is well-drained.

Step 12

Place the drained pasta in the center of the prepared plate.

Step 13

Arrange the well-cooked bullet squid attractively over the pasta as a centerpiece. The tender texture of the squid is exceptional.

Step 14

We used Oriental dressing, which is easily found in supermarkets. To avoid overpowering the rich and savory flavor of the bullet squid’s innards, it’s best to use a minimal amount of dressing. Adjust the amount of dressing to highlight the squid’s flavor.

Step 15

Gently pour the Oriental dressing over the squid. The dressing will subtly coat the squid and pasta, harmonizing their flavors.

Step 16

Bullet squid has a very tender texture. Use a fork to gently toss the dressing, squid innards, pasta, and vegetables together until well combined. Once all the ingredients are harmoniously blended, enjoy your meal! You have created a pasta dish with an excellent combination of fresh ingredients and a light dressing!
