Easy and Adorable Watermelon Toast Recipe for Kids
Introducing a special watermelon-shaped toast that kids absolutely adore! It’s incredibly easy to make, yet it’s said to be a huge hit when served for birthdays or special occasions^^.
Ingredients- 7 slices of bread
- 2 kiwis
- Strawberry jam
- Sunflower chocolate balls (for decoration)
- Butter
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, take the 7 slices of bread and cut them into triangle shapes, similar to a triangular onigiri. This shape will help in creating the ‘rind’ of the watermelon later.
Step 2
Next, melt a little butter in a lightly preheated pan over low heat. Once the butter is melted, place the bread slices and toast just one side until lightly golden. Be careful not to burn them by using heat that is too high.
Step 3
Once one side is toasted to a beautiful golden brown, carefully remove the bread from the pan without flipping it. This golden-brown side will become the ‘flesh’ of the watermelon.
Step 4
Place the bread with the toasted side facing down. Spread a thin layer of strawberry jam on the untoasted side. An important tip: leave about a 1cm border around the edges of the bread without jam. This will help the kiwi ‘rind’ stick nicely later.
Step 5
Along the remaining uncooked border (about 1cm) of the bread, place thinly sliced kiwi pieces that are shaped to fit the edge. Arrange them so the green part of the kiwi faces outwards, resembling the watermelon’s rind.
Step 6
Finally, to represent the black watermelon seeds, place sunflower chocolate balls onto the jam. This adds a cute touch that kids will love! Your delightful and charming watermelon toast is now complete, ready to impress the little ones.
