Sweet & Tangy Mango Salsa Dressing
Exotic Mango Salsa Sauce Recipe with Fresh Mango
Salsa, meaning ‘sauce’ in Spanish, is typically a spicy condiment. This recipe uses sweet mangoes to create a fresh, slightly spicy, and exotic salsa sauce. It pairs wonderfully with salads, grilled meats, and fish dishes.
Ingredients- 1 ripe mango (peeled, pitted, yielding about 1.5 cups)
- 1/2 small red onion or regular onion (finely minced)
- 1-2 hot chili peppers (seeds removed, finely minced, adjust to taste)
- 1 fresh lime (juiced)
- 2 Tbsp olive oil
- Pinch of salt (to taste)
- Pinch of freshly ground black pepper
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Prepare the Onion: Peel and trim the root end of half a small onion. Finely mince it. For a milder flavor, you can rinse the minced onion under cold water and drain thoroughly before using. Ensure it’s well-drained.
Step 2
Prepare the Chili Peppers: Wash 1-2 hot chili peppers and remove the stems. Slit them lengthwise, scrape out the seeds, and mince them very finely. Adjust the quantity based on your spice preference. (To reduce heat, remove all seeds. For more spice, leave some seeds in or use a hotter variety like a jalapeño.)
Step 3
Dice the Mango: Wash the ripe mango, peel it, and remove the pit. Dice the mango flesh into small, even cubes, about 0.5-1 cm in size. Using a mango that is firm but ripe will help it hold its shape beautifully.
Step 4
Juice the Lime: Cut the fresh lime in half and squeeze out the juice. Be careful not to let any seeds fall into the juice. If you don’t have a lime, lemon juice can be used as a substitute.
Step 5
Combine Ingredients: In a medium bowl, combine the prepared minced onion, minced chili peppers, and diced mango.
Step 6
Dress and Mix: Add 2 tablespoons of olive oil, the squeezed lime juice, a pinch of salt, and a pinch of freshly ground black pepper to the bowl. Gently stir everything together with a spatula or spoon until well combined. Taste and adjust seasoning; add more salt if needed or a bit more lime juice for extra tanginess. The salsa is delicious served immediately or chilled in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
