How to Make Delicious Stir-Fried Radish
When you’re tired of complicated side dishes, try this simple and delicious stir-fried radish recipe. The perfect combination of sweet radish and nutty perilla oil makes it an irresistible dish that will have you reaching for more rice. Let’s get cooking!
Main Ingredients- 1/2 medium daikon radish (approx. 300-400g)
- A little bit of green onion (white part mainly)
Seasoning- 3 Tbsp perilla oil
- 1 tsp seasoned salt
- 1 Tbsp minced garlic
- 1 Tbsp sesame seeds
- 3 Tbsp perilla oil
- 1 tsp seasoned salt
- 1 Tbsp minced garlic
- 1 Tbsp sesame seeds
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Let’s prepare the ingredients for our delicious stir-fried radish! First, take about half a medium daikon radish (approximately 300-400g) and wash it well. Finely chop the white parts of the green onion. If you don’t have green onions, it’s okay, but they add extra flavor.
Step 2
Now, it’s time to thinly julienne the radish. The thinner you slice it, the better the seasoning will penetrate and the softer the texture will be. If you’re not confident with a knife, a mandoline slicer works great too.
Step 3
Heat a frying pan over medium heat and add 3 tablespoons of fragrant perilla oil. The nutty aroma of perilla oil pairs wonderfully with radish.
Step 4
Once the perilla oil is warm, add the minced garlic and chopped green onions. Sauté them over low heat until fragrant, creating a garlic and onion aroma. Be careful not to burn them; cook just until the aroma is released.
Step 5
Now, adjust the heat to medium and add the julienned radish to the pan. Stir well to coat the radish with the perilla oil, garlic, and green onions, and begin stir-frying.
Step 6
As the radish starts to cook, add 1 teaspoon of seasoned salt. It’s best to add a little salt at first and adjust later, rather than adding too much at once. Continue stir-frying, mixing everything together.
Step 7
Keep stir-frying until the radish softens and becomes translucent. The radish will release its own moisture as it cooks.
Step 8
You’ll notice that as the radish is sufficiently stir-fried, it releases its liquid and becomes slightly transparent. At this point, reduce the heat to low. Be cautious not to burn it over high heat.
Step 9
After reducing the heat to low, cover the pan with a lid and let it cook for about 1 more minute. Covering the pan helps the radish steam and become extra tender and moist. Turn off the heat after 1 minute.
Step 10
Lift the lid to reveal your perfectly cooked stir-fried radish, filled with a sweet and savory aroma! Finish by sprinkling 1 tablespoon of sesame seeds over the top. Your beautiful and delicious radish side dish is ready!
Step 11
Enjoy this delightfully sweet and savory stir-fried radish with a bowl of hot rice! It’s a simple yet wonderfully satisfying side dish.
