Ingredients- 4 ears of corn (frozen is fine)
- 1 piece of butter (approx. 20g)
- 1-2 Tbsp sugar (adjust to taste)
- Pinch of dried parsley
- Pinch of powdered sugar (optional)
- Grated Parmesan cheese
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Gather your ingredients: 4 ears of corn from the freezer and a piece of butter. You can use the frozen corn directly without thawing.
Step 2
Place the butter in a microwave-safe bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and microwave for about 20-30 seconds until softened and melted. Be careful not to overheat, as it can burn.
Step 3
In a small bowl, combine the melted butter with sugar and dried parsley. Mix well. Adjust the amount of sugar according to your preference – add more for a sweeter taste, or less if you prefer it less sweet.
Step 4
Heat a skillet over medium-low heat. Place the corn cobs in the skillet and gently roll them around to cook evenly. It’s important to use medium-low heat to ensure the corn cooks through without burning.
Step 5
As you roll the corn in the pan, use a brush to evenly coat it with the prepared butter mixture. Applying the butter evenly is key to achieving that delicious, caramelized flavor.
Step 6
Continue to cook over medium-low heat, constantly turning and rolling the corn. This gradual cooking process allows the corn to develop a beautiful sheen and cook all the way through.
Step 7
You’ll notice the corn starting to glisten and turn a lovely golden-brown color as it cooks. The aroma of sweet, buttery corn will fill your kitchen.
Step 8
Keep toasting the corn until it reaches your desired level of golden-brown crispness. At this stage, it looks beautifully roasted and is almost ready to enjoy!
Step 9
For easier handling and eating, insert corn holders or small wooden skewers into the ends of the corn cobs. This makes them much more convenient to hold, especially when hot.
Step 10
Finally, sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese generously over the butter-toasted corn. If you have powdered sugar, a light dusting can add extra sweetness. (Tip: For a spicy kick reminiscent of ‘Elote’, you can add a tiny pinch of finely ground chili powder. If not, it’s delicious as is!)
