Main Ingredient
  • 1 can (approx. 340g) Canned Cooked Pork (Spam-style)

Seasoning Ingredients
  • 1 Tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 1/2 Tbsp Gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 1 Tbsp Allulose or Corn Syrup
  • A pinch of Sesame Seeds

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Prepare 1 can of canned cooked pork, soy sauce, gochujang, allulose (or corn syrup), and sesame seeds. Allulose is a great sugar substitute for adding sweetness without the extra calories.

Step 2

First, slice the canned cooked pork into bite-sized pieces. Slices about 0.7-1cm thick are usually ideal for texture. Place the sliced pork in a sieve and rinse thoroughly with hot water. This step helps to remove some of the excess fat and saltiness, making the final dish milder and more enjoyable.

Step 3

After rinsing with hot water, carefully pat the pork slices dry with paper towels. Any remaining moisture can cause splattering when frying and will prevent it from getting crispy. Now, heat a pan over medium heat and add the dried pork slices. Stir-fry them until they are nicely browned and slightly crispy, similar to how you’d cook pork belly. The key is to get the edges a little chewy and browned.

Step 4

Once the pork is well-browned, pour 1 tablespoon of soy sauce around the edges of the pan. This allows the soy sauce to caramelize slightly, adding a deeper flavor.

Step 5

Add 1 tablespoon of allulose (or corn syrup) over the soy sauce to introduce sweetness.

Step 6

Add 1/2 tablespoon of gochujang for a touch of spicy flavor and savory depth. If you enjoy a spicier kick, feel free to add a little more.

Step 7

Now, stir everything together to coat the browned pork with the delicious sauce. Continue to stir-fry until the sauce is glossy and clings to the pork pieces.

Step 8

Finally, sprinkle a generous pinch of sesame seeds over the stir-fry for added nutty flavor and aroma. Give it one last quick stir to distribute them evenly.

Step 9

Your delicious stir-fried canned pork, a perfect balance of sweet and salty, is now ready! It’s fantastic served hot, but it also makes a wonderful side dish when cooled.

Step 10

This stir-fried pork isn’t just a great side dish for rice; it’s also delicious as a topping for rice bowls or served alongside stews. The savory and sweet combination is sure to whet your appetite and elevate your experience with canned pork!
