Sweet & Salty Delight! Baby Potato Butter Roast – Perfect for Kids
Easy Baby Potato Butter Roast Recipe: A Must-Try Potato Dish for Kids
Here’s a delightful ‘sweet and salty’ snack made with perfectly sized baby potatoes. This easy recipe creates a delicious treat that’s sure to be a hit with children.
Main Ingredients- 10-12 baby potatoes (small size)
- 30g butter
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Start by peeling the baby potatoes. Wash them thoroughly under running water to remove any dirt or debris. Their small, round shape makes them perfect for little hands to hold and eat.
Step 2
Place the clean baby potatoes in a pot. Add enough water to cover the potatoes completely. Stir in 1 Tbsp of salt and 2 Tbsp of sugar. Boil the potatoes until they are tender. Be careful not to overcook them, as they can easily fall apart. They should be cooked just until a fork can easily pierce them. Adjust the boiling time based on the size of your potatoes.
Step 3
Once the potatoes are cooked, drain all the water from the pot. You’ll be left with the cooked potatoes in an empty pot.
Step 4
Now, let’s add the star ingredient for our delicious butter roast: 30g of butter. Place the butter into the pot with the drained potatoes. The butter will begin to melt from the residual heat.
Step 5
Keep the heat on very low to prevent the butter from burning. As the butter melts, gently swirl and roll the potatoes around in the pot. This step is about evenly coating the potatoes with melted butter. Handle the potatoes carefully to avoid breaking them.
Step 6
Once the potatoes are lightly coated with butter, it’s time to add the ‘sweet and salty’ magic! Add the remaining 0.5 Tbsp of salt and 2 Tbsp of sugar to the pot. Continue to cook over low heat, stirring and tossing the potatoes gently. As time passes, the sugar will start to melt and caramelize. It might stick to the bottom of the pot, so use a spatula to gently scrape it up and ensure it coats the potatoes evenly.
Step 7
Keep gently rolling and tossing the potatoes until the seasoning is well distributed and the sugar has caramelized to give the potatoes a beautiful glaze. Your baby potato butter roast is almost ready!
Step 8
Serve warm on a plate. You’ll have a wonderful baby potato butter roast that’s crispy and sweet-salty on the outside, and fluffy and tender on the inside. It’s a fantastic snack for kids and a perfect accompaniment to a cold drink for adults!
