  • Difficulty : Anyone

Ingredients

  • 2 medium-sized sweet potatoes, steamed
  • 3 Tbsp starch (cornstarch or potato starch)
  • 50 ml milk
  • 3 Tbsp honey (or corn syrup/oligo syrup)
  • 1 Tbsp black sesame seeds

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, peel the skin off the steamed sweet potatoes. The steamed sweet potatoes will be soft, making them easy to peel.

Step 1

Step 2

Mash the peeled sweet potatoes thoroughly using a fork or a masher until there are no lumps. Mashing them to a rice grain consistency will help the dough mix better.

Step 2

Step 3

To the mashed sweet potatoes, add 3 tablespoons of starch, 3 tablespoons of honey for sweetness (or oligo syrup), 1 tablespoon of black sesame seeds for a nutty flavor, and 50 ml of milk for a smoother texture.

Step 3

Step 4

Mix all the ingredients well using a spatula or your hands, kneading until a cohesive dough forms. You can adjust the amount of milk depending on the moisture content of the sweet potatoes. Knead until it becomes elastic.

Step 4

Step 5

Take portions of the well-mixed dough and roll them into small, round balls. The dough can be a bit sticky, so lightly wetting your hands or applying a bit of oil can prevent sticking.

Step 5

Step 6

Arrange the round sweet potato balls in your air fryer basket, ensuring they have some space between them so they don’t stick together. Air fry at 170°C (340°F) for 10-15 minutes, or until the exteriors are lightly golden brown. Flipping them halfway through can help them cook more evenly.
