Ingredients

  • 2 fresh carrots (approx. 100-120g)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Wash the fresh carrots thoroughly under running water. Trim off the tough ends and peel them carefully using a vegetable peeler. Slice them into uniform pieces, about 1-2 cm thick, which will make steaming easier.

Step 1

Step 2

Arrange the prepared carrot slices neatly in a steamer basket. Ensure there is enough water in the steamer pot, and try to prevent the carrots from being submerged directly in the water.

Step 2

Step 3

Cover the steamer tightly with a lid and steam over high heat for about 10 minutes. The carrots are ready when they are tender enough to be easily pierced with a fork. The steaming time may vary slightly depending on the thickness and amount of carrots.

Step 3

Step 4

Once the carrots are cooked, remove them from the steamer and let them cool slightly. Transfer the slightly cooled carrots to a baby food blender or a regular blender.

Step 4

Step 5

Blend the carrots until they form a very smooth puree. Since this is for early stage baby food, it’s crucial to achieve a lump-free, smooth consistency that your baby can easily swallow.

Step 5

Step 6

For this early stage, you can further ensure smoothness by adding a small amount of rice flour or glutinous rice flour and mixing, or by passing the puree through a fine-mesh sieve with a damp cloth. Focus on achieving the finest, smoothest texture possible at this stage!

Step 6

Step 7

Portion the finished carrot puree into baby food cubes or small containers. Aim for a serving size of about 15g per portion, suitable for a baby’s meal. Adjust according to your baby’s appetite.

Step 7

Step 8

Once portioned, freeze the carrot puree cubes. To serve, thaw them in the refrigerator or gently warm them using a double boiler until they reach a baby-friendly temperature. Serving as fresh as possible is always recommended.
