Indulge in a delightful strawberry cream sandwich, generously filled with luscious whipped cream and vibrant, fresh strawberries. It’s the perfect treat for a special breakfast, a delightful snack for kids, or an elegant addition to your afternoon tea.
Key Ingredients- 2 slices of bread (Brioche or whole wheat can also be used, according to your preference)
- 9 medium-sized fresh strawberries
- 100g cold heavy cream (whipping cream with at least 35% fat content is recommended)
- 10g sugar (granulated or powdered sugar; adjust sweetness to your taste)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Gather all the necessary ingredients to create your delicious strawberry cream sandwich. Begin by rinsing the strawberries under cool running water.
Step 2
Remove the green tops from the strawberries for a clean presentation and a purer flavor. After washing them thoroughly, gently pat them dry with paper towels. This step is crucial to prevent the sandwich from becoming soggy.
Step 3
In a chilled bowl, combine the 100g of cold heavy cream and 10g of sugar. Using an electric mixer or a whisk, whip the cream until it forms soft peaks – when you lift the beater, a peak should form but gently curl over. This consistency is ideal for spreading and creating a stable filling. Be careful not to overwhip, as it can become too stiff to spread easily.
Step 4
Lay a piece of plastic wrap smoothly over your cutting board. Using plastic wrap will make it easier to handle, transfer, and cut the sandwich neatly, ensuring a beautiful presentation.
Step 5
Place one slice of bread onto the plastic wrap.
Step 6
Generously spread the whipped cream you prepared in step 2 evenly over the entire surface of the bread slice, all the way to the edges, for maximum flavor and enjoyment.
Step 7
Arrange 3 of the prepared strawberries in the center of the cream-covered bread slice. You can also slice larger strawberries before placing them.
Step 8
Place the remaining 6 strawberries on either side of the center strawberries, distributing them evenly. If your strawberries are particularly large, you might want to adjust the placement – for example, 2-3 in the center and 2-3 on each side – to create a more visually appealing arrangement. Handle the strawberries gently to avoid crushing them.
Step 9
Fill in the gaps between the strawberries and around them with more whipped cream. This ensures that when the sandwich is cut, the filling remains contained and looks abundant.
Step 10
Place the second slice of bread on top, and gently press down with your hand to help the ingredients adhere together and settle.
Step 11
Carefully wrap the sandwich tightly with the plastic wrap, ensuring the sides are also secured. This helps maintain the sandwich’s shape during chilling and slicing.
Step 12
Once securely wrapped, place the sandwich in the refrigerator and let it chill for at least 1 hour. This resting period allows the flavors to meld and the sandwich to firm up, making it easier to cut and more enjoyable to eat.
Step 13
After chilling, carefully trim the crusts off the sandwich while it’s still wrapped in plastic. This step contributes to a cleaner, more professional look.
Step 14
Now it’s time to slice the sandwich. Before unwrapping, observe the placement of the strawberries. Make a slight cut to guide your slicing, then unwrap the plastic and cut the sandwich cleanly in half.
Step 15
Congratulations! Your beautiful and delicious strawberry cream sandwich is ready to be enjoyed. Admire the vibrant cross-section showcasing the plentiful strawberries nestled within the creamy filling.
