Step 1

First, prepare your fresh sweet corn. Carefully peel away the outer husks and remove all the silk. Then, trim off the very bottom end of each cob to create a flat surface.

Pro Tip: Sweet corn is wonderfully crunchy and sweet enough to enjoy raw, much like a fruit! However, I personally highly recommend steaming it. Steaming deepens its natural sweetness and creates a wonderfully tender texture.

Step 3

Rinse the prepared corn ears under cool running water. While rinsing, make sure to remove any remaining silk strands that might have been missed.

Step 4

Place the washed corn ears on a microwave-safe plate. Cover them with a microwave-safe plastic bag or plastic wrap. This helps to trap moisture, ensuring the corn steams up perfectly tender and juicy. If you’re only steaming one ear, regular plastic wrap is sufficient.

Step 5

Now, let’s steam it in the microwave! For one ear of corn, approximately 3 minutes is a good starting point. Adjust the time based on the size of your corn and your microwave’s wattage. Since I was steaming three ears, I microwaved them for a total of 12 minutes (3 minutes per ear).

Step 6

Carefully remove the corn from the microwave. You’ll see steam rising, and you’ll be greeted by the wonderfully sweet aroma of cooked corn. It looks perfectly cooked and ready to enjoy.

Step 7
