Sweet and Savory Spinach Salad (Sigeumchi Muchim) with Field-Grown Spinach
A Delicious Spinach Salad Recipe Using Sweet Field-Grown Spinach for Health and Flavor
I bought 1kg of field-grown spinach, which looked wonderfully sweet and fresh this season. After using some for soup, I saved a bit to make this delicious spinach salad! Since it’s just for me, I’ve seasoned it to my perfect taste. I truly envy those who can make namul (seasoned vegetables) with just salt or soy sauce. For me, they tend to be too bland without a little extra something. I love adding various seasonings to enhance the flavor. Lately, a secret ingredient I’ve been using is chicken powder – it adds a subtle, savory depth that elevates the taste of the vegetables beautifully. While the field-grown spinach itself was already delicious, this special seasoning made it even better. This healthy and flavorful spinach salad is a fantastic side dish. Try making it and enjoy! Wishing you a delicious weekend! ♡
Ingredients- Spinach (blanched) – 3 handfuls
- Coarse salt – a pinch (for blanching)
Seasoning- Chicken powder – 1 tsp (adjust to taste)
- Salt – 1 tsp (adjust to taste)
- Chopped scallions (optional)
- Toasted sesame seeds – a pinch
- Sesame oil – 1 Tbsp
- Chicken powder – 1 tsp (adjust to taste)
- Salt – 1 tsp (adjust to taste)
- Chopped scallions (optional)
- Toasted sesame seeds – a pinch
- Sesame oil – 1 Tbsp
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Carefully wash the fresh spinach under running water to remove any dirt or debris. Trim off any wilted or yellow leaves.
Step 2
Bring a pot of water to a rolling boil and add a pinch of coarse salt. Add the prepared spinach and blanch for about 30 seconds to 1 minute, just until it wilts slightly. Overcooking can make the spinach mushy and destroy nutrients, so be quick!
Step 3
Immediately drain the blanched spinach and rinse it under cold water to stop the cooking process and cool it down. Gently squeeze out excess water. Be careful not to squeeze too hard, as this can mash the spinach.
Step 4
Place the drained spinach in a bowl. Add all the seasoning ingredients (chicken powder, salt, chopped scallions, sesame seeds, and sesame oil). Gently toss and mix the ingredients with your hands until the spinach is evenly coated. Handle the spinach gently to avoid breaking it.
Step 5
Transfer the well-seasoned and delicious spinach salad to a serving dish. It’s best enjoyed fresh!
