Easy & Delicious Braised Pork Ribs with a Sweet and Savory Glaze
Whip up this incredibly easy and flavorful braised pork ribs dish using a convenient meal kit! Perfect for a quick and satisfying meal.
Main Ingredients- Seasoned Pork Ribs Meal Kit 1kg
- 1/3 Carrot
- 7 Dried Shiitake Mushrooms (or fresh shiitake mushrooms)
- 1 Onion
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, soak the dried shiitake mushrooms in lukewarm water for about 30 minutes until softened. (If using fresh shiitake mushrooms, soaking is not necessary.) Peel the onion and cut it into large chunks. Wash and peel the carrot, then cut it into large pieces; don’t worry about making them perfectly shaped. (Roughly chopped pieces are recommended!)
Step 2
Place the seasoned pork ribs from the meal kit directly into a pan. Cook over high heat for about 10 minutes. You’ll see moisture being released from the meat as the surface begins to cook.
Step 3
After 10 minutes, cover the pan with a lid and reduce the heat to medium-low. Continue to simmer for another 5 minutes. This step helps to tenderize the meat from the inside out.
Step 4
Once the ribs are partially cooked, gently stir them at the bottom of the pan. Squeeze out excess water from the rehydrated shiitake mushrooms, trim off any tough stems, and cut them into quarters. Add the prepared carrot and onion to the pan and stir everything together.
Step 5
Now, cover the pan again and simmer over medium-low heat for 15 minutes. It’s a good idea to stir occasionally to ensure the ingredients cook evenly. The sauce will thicken, allowing the flavors to meld beautifully with the meat and vegetables.
Step 6
After 15 minutes, the pork ribs should be tender and the sauce should be nicely reduced. To check for doneness, insert a chopstick into the meat; if no pink juice comes out, it’s ready.
Step 7
Turn off the heat. Finish by drizzling a few drops of sesame oil for an extra nutty aroma and flavor. Serve hot with a side of steamed rice for a complete and delicious meal!
