- A pinch of dried parsley
- A pinch of black pepper
- 1 pack of store-bought cream sauce (choose your favorite brand)
- 1 cup milk (approx. 200ml using a paper cup)
- 1 Tbsp chicken stock (or 1 Tbsp cooking wine as an alternative)
- A pinch of grated Parmesan cheese
- A pinch of dried parsley
- A pinch of black pepper
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
This recipe demonstrates how to use a store-bought cream sauce when you don’t have heavy cream on hand. If you do have heavy cream, you can add it along with the store-bought sauce or use it as a complete replacement, depending on your preference.
Step 2
Prepare the rice, which is the base of the risotto. About 1 serving of warm rice is ideal. If you’re using leftover cold rice, gently warm it up in the microwave before proceeding.
Step 3
Dice the bacon into bite-sized pieces (about 1cm wide). Finely mince the onion. The smaller you mince the onion, the better it will integrate into the sauce for enhanced flavor.
Step 4
Heat a wide pan or wok over medium heat. Add 1 tablespoon of cooking oil and 1 tablespoon of minced garlic. Sauté until the fragrant aroma of garlic is released. Be careful not to burn the garlic while sautéing.
Step 5
Once the garlic is fragrant, add the diced onion and bacon to the pan. Continue to sauté them together until the onions become translucent and the bacon is nicely browned and has rendered some fat.
Step 6
After the ingredients are well sautéed, pour in the entire packet (or pouch) of store-bought cream sauce. Stir well to coat the sautéed ingredients with the sauce.
Step 7
Now it’s time to adjust the risotto’s consistency. Gradually pour in about 1 cup (approximately 200ml, measured with a paper cup) of milk, stirring to combine it thoroughly with the sauce. You can adjust the amount of milk to achieve your desired creaminess.
Step 8
It’s time to season the risotto. Add 1 tablespoon of chicken stock and stir well. If you don’t have chicken stock, you can substitute with 1/2 tablespoon of soy sauce or 1 tablespoon of cooking wine to add umami depth.
Step 9
Begin to simmer the sauce. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally. Once the sauce starts to gently bubble, add the prepared rice and stir to break up any clumps.
Step 10
Gently mix the rice with a spatula or spoon, ensuring each grain is coated with the sauce. Avoid stirring for too long, as you want the rice grains to maintain a pleasant al dente texture rather than becoming mushy.
Step 11
Sprinkle a desired amount of grated Parmesan cheese to enhance the flavor. The melting Parmesan will add a rich, nutty taste.
Step 12
Finally, garnish with a pinch of dried parsley and black pepper. Your delicious store-bought sauce risotto, both visually appealing and incredibly tasty, is now complete! Serve immediately while warm.
