Super Simple Sausage Stew (Sundae Guk)
Quick & Easy Sundae Guk Recipe with Rich Beef Bone Broth
My eldest son, who absolutely loves sundae (Korean blood sausage), kept asking for it, so I grabbed a pack of sundae and a carton of beef bone broth from the supermarket! Today, we’re making a super simple Sundae Guk using these two ingredients.
Ingredients- Beef Bone Broth (Sago Guk-style) 1kg (1000ml)
- Korean Blood Sausage (Sundae) 1kg
- Green Onion 7cm (chopped)
- Cheongyang Chili Peppers 2 (chopped, adjust for spice preference)
- Perilla Seed Powder 2 Tbsp (for nutty flavor)
Spicy Seasoning Paste (Dadaegi)- Gochugaru (Korean Chili Flakes) 4 Tbsp
- Cooking Wine (Mirin/Cheongju) 2 Tbsp
- Minced Garlic 2 Tbsp
- Soy Sauce 1 Tbsp
- Black Pepper a pinch
- Sundae Guk Broth or Water 3 Tbsp (to adjust consistency)
- Gochugaru (Korean Chili Flakes) 4 Tbsp
- Cooking Wine (Mirin/Cheongju) 2 Tbsp
- Minced Garlic 2 Tbsp
- Soy Sauce 1 Tbsp
- Black Pepper a pinch
- Sundae Guk Broth or Water 3 Tbsp (to adjust consistency)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
This is the chewy sundae from No Brand. True to its name, it’s chewy and delicious, perfect for Sundae Guk!
Step 2
This is the rich beef bone broth from No Brand. It’s a generous 1kg size.
Step 3
Pour the beef bone broth into a pot and add the sundae, cut into bite-sized pieces. Bring it to a boil.
Step 4
Once the broth is boiling, add the chopped Cheongyang chili peppers (1) and green onions.
Step 5
Prepare the spicy seasoning paste (dadaegi). Combine gochugaru, cooking wine, minced garlic, soy sauce, and black pepper. Add a little of the sundae guk broth (or water) and mix well until it forms a paste.
Step 6
Add the perilla seed powder to the Sundae Guk.
Step 7
Simmer the Sundae Guk for about 5 minutes until thoroughly heated and flavors meld. Serve hot, and mix in the spicy seasoning paste to your liking. Enjoy this hearty and delicious meal!
