Super Simple Homemade Iced Coffee
Making Refreshing Iced Coffee with Coffee Mixes at Home
On sweltering summer days, nothing hits the spot quite like a glass of iced coffee. This recipe introduces a simple way to make delicious iced coffee using readily available coffee mixes, perfect for a quick, refreshing treat at home.
Ingredients- 3 coffee mix sticks (based on French Cafe brand; 2 sticks may be sufficient for other brands)
- 50ml cold water
- 10 ice cubes
- 50ml boiled water
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare your cup. A tall glass or a tumbler works well. Pour 3 coffee mix sticks into the cup. (Note: This is based on the ‘French Cafe’ brand; if you’re using a different brand, 2 sticks might be enough, so feel free to adjust to your preference.)
Step 2
Next, it’s time to boil some water. Use a kettle to bring the water to a rolling boil. We need the water hot enough to dissolve the coffee mix thoroughly.
Step 3
Carefully pour 50ml of the boiled water into the cup containing the coffee mix. The hot water will help dissolve the coffee granules.
Step 4
Now, let’s dissolve the coffee mix completely. Stir well with a spoon or a stirring stick until the coffee is fully dissolved and there are no clumps. You should start to smell the rich coffee aroma.
Step 5
To slightly cool down the coffee mixture, add 50ml of cold water. This step helps prevent the ice from melting too quickly when added directly to very hot coffee, which can dilute the drink. (Alternatively, you can add ice directly to the hot coffee. A personal tip: adding cold water first and then ice at the end helps the ice last longer and keeps the coffee colder.)
Step 6
Now, let’s add the chill! Fill the cup with 10 ice cubes. You can add more or fewer ice cubes depending on how cold you like your drink.
Step 7
Finally, quickly chill the coffee. Stir vigorously with a spoon to rapidly cool the mixture and ensure the ice and coffee are well combined. This makes the drink even more refreshing and delicious. (If you prefer it extra cold, feel free to add more ice.) Your homemade iced coffee is now ready to enjoy!
