Main Ingredients- Pork jowl 7 pieces (approx. 200-250g)
- 1/2 Onion
- 1 bowl Warm cooked rice
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, lightly oil a pan and sear the 7 pieces of pork jowl, cut into bite-sized pieces, along with 1/2 thinly sliced onion until golden brown. The fat from the pork jowl will render and add a wonderful flavor.
Step 2
While the pork jowl is searing, in a small bowl, combine 1 Tbsp oyster sauce, 2 Tbsp soy sauce, 1.5 Tbsp sugar, and 180ml water. Whisk well until the sugar dissolves to create a delicious sauce.
Step 3
Once the pork jowl and onions are nicely cooked, pour the prepared sauce into the pan. Mix everything well to ensure the sauce evenly coats the meat and vegetables.
Step 4
After adding the sauce, adjust the heat to medium-high and let it simmer for about 10 minutes, or until the sauce thickens slightly and coats the ingredients. Stir occasionally to allow the sauce to penetrate the pork and onions.
Step 5
Prepare a serving bowl by filling it with 1 bowl of warm cooked rice.
Step 6
Generously spoon the well-simmered pork jowl and sauce over the rice. Optionally, sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds for a nutty aroma. Your fantastic pork jowl rice bowl is now complete! Enjoy your meal.
