Super Simple Clam Meat Pancake: A Delicious Seafood Dish You Can Enjoy at Home
An Easy Clam Meat Pancake Recipe
This is an incredibly simple pancake dish made with plenty of fresh clam meat, offering a delightful chewy texture. You don’t need any special broth or complicated ingredients to make a wonderful meal or a perfect snack to go with drinks. When pan-fried to a beautiful golden-brown, it’s a dish that both children and adults will absolutely love!
Basic Ingredients- 150g fresh clam meat (using pre-purged clams is even better)
- 1/3 medium onion (finely chopped)
- 1 Cheongyang chili pepper (adjust to your spice preference)
- 1 red chili pepper (for color and a hint of sweetness)
- 1 fresh egg
- 1 Tbsp pancake mix (or all-purpose flour)
- 3 Tbsp cooking oil (have a generous amount ready)
- A pinch of salt (to taste)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the main ingredient: the clam meat. Rinse the clam meat thoroughly under cold running water to remove any sand or debris. It’s crucial to drain it completely in a sieve, as excess moisture can make the batter too watery.
Step 2
Next, let’s prepare the vegetables. Peel the onion, rinse it under cold water to slightly mellow its sharpness, and then mince it as finely as possible. Similarly, remove the seeds from the Cheongyang and red chili peppers and mince them finely. If you enjoy spicy food, you can increase the amount of Cheongyang chili, or omit it if serving to children. The red chili pepper adds a lovely color.
Step 3
Now it’s time to make the batter. In a bowl, combine the drained clam meat, the finely minced onion and chili peppers, and crack in 1 fresh egg. Add 1 tablespoon of pancake mix and use a spatula or spoon to mix everything together thoroughly. Ensure all ingredients are well combined and evenly distributed; this is key for a good pancake.
Step 4
Finally, season the batter. Add about 2-3 pinches of salt to the mixture and stir well once more. Keep in mind the natural saltiness of the clam meat when adjusting the amount of salt to your preference. Thoroughly mixing ensures the seasoning is even throughout the pancake when cooked.
Step 5
Heat a frying pan over medium-low heat. Add about 3 tablespoons of cooking oil generously. Once the pan is sufficiently hot, scoop the batter using a tablespoon and drop portions onto the pan. Make them about bite-sized and flatten them slightly with the back of the spoon. This makes them easier to cook and eat.
Step 6
Now, let’s pan-fry them to a beautiful golden-brown. After dropping the batter, once the edges begin to cook slightly, carefully flip them using a spatula or chopsticks. Cook each side for about 2-3 minutes, or until they turn a lovely golden-brown color. You’ll have delicious clam meat pancakes that are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside!
