Whip up Delicious Cinnamon Rolls with Hotteok Mix – No Oven Required! Perfect for Kids
Are you looking for a way to use up leftover Hotteok mix? I discovered you can make amazing cinnamon rolls with it instead of Hotteok! They are incredibly simple and absolutely delicious. This recipe makes baking these delightful, chewy cinnamon rolls accessible even without an oven.

Sweet Icing- Sweetened Condensed Milk, to taste (adjust as preferred)

Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, in a clean bowl, combine the ‘dough mix’ and ‘yeast’ that come with the Hotteok mix. Stir them together gently until evenly distributed. This ensures the yeast is ready to work its magic.
Step 2
Now, gradually add 250ml of lukewarm water to the dry mixture and begin kneading. Use your hands or a spatula to mix until no dry powder remains. Knead the dough until it becomes smooth and elastic, about 5-7 minutes. Adjust the water slightly if the dough is too sticky or too dry.
Step 3
The best part about this recipe? No proofing time needed! Place the kneaded dough on a clean surface or parchment paper. Use a rolling pin or a round bottle to flatten the dough into a sheet about 0.5cm thick, similar to a pizza dough. To prevent sticking, you can lightly flour your surface or use plastic wrap as I did, which makes rolling much easier. Aim for an even thickness throughout.
Step 4
Evenly spread the included ‘jam mix’ over the flattened dough. Important tip: Leave a margin of about 1-2cm around the edges bare of the jam mix. This prevents the filling from oozing out when you roll and bake the cinnamon rolls.
Step 5
Now, carefully roll up the dough tightly, just like making a sushi roll or kimbap. Pinch the seam firmly with your fingers to seal the edge. This ensures your rolls hold their shape beautifully as they cook.
Step 6
Slice the rolled dough into pieces about 2cm thick. Heat a generous amount of cooking oil in a pan over medium-low heat. Place the sliced cinnamon rolls in the pan, cover with a lid, and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side, until golden brown and inviting. Covering the pan helps to ensure the inside cooks through evenly while keeping them wonderfully moist.
