The combination of tender dumplings, rich tomato sauce, and a generous layer of melted cheese is absolutely irresistible. Perfect for a satisfying snack or a light dinner!
Key Ingredients- 6 frozen dumplings (standard size)
- 1 cup store-bought tomato sauce (pasta or pizza sauce recommended)
- 150g pizza cheese
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Gather all your ingredients. You’ll need about 6 standard-sized frozen dumplings. Using a store-bought tomato sauce, such as a pasta or pizza sauce, will add a wonderful depth of flavor to your gratin.
Step 2
Place the frozen dumplings in a microwave-safe dish. To prevent them from drying out, cover the dish with a lid or plastic wrap. Microwave for about 3 minutes to partially cook the dumplings. This step makes them softer and easier to cut in the next step.
Step 3
Carefully remove the dish from the microwave. Using kitchen scissors or a knife, chop the dumplings into bite-sized pieces. Try to cut them neatly so the filling doesn’t spill out too much.
Step 4
Pour 1/2 cup of tomato sauce over the chopped dumplings. Be mindful of the amount; too much sauce can make the gratin too salty.
Step 5
Gently mix the dumplings and sauce together with a spatula or spoon, ensuring the dumplings don’t break apart completely. The goal is to coat the dumplings evenly with the sauce.
Step 6
Spread the remaining 1/2 cup of tomato sauce evenly over the mixture. This layer will add extra moisture and flavor to the top of the gratin.
Step 7
Now for the best part: the cheese! Sprinkle 150g of pizza cheese generously over the sauce layer, covering it completely. You can adjust the amount of cheese to your liking – more cheese means more deliciousness!
Step 8
Bake in a preheated oven at 190°C (375°F) or in an air fryer for about 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and lightly golden brown. For an extra touch, sprinkle a pinch of crushed red pepper flakes for a hint of heat and some dried parsley for garnish. Your delicious Mandu Gratin is ready to enjoy!
