Essential Ingredients- 1 paper cup milk (approx. 200ml)
- 1 packet soup ramen
- 2 slices processed cheese
- 1 Tbsp butter (approx. 15g)
- 1 Tbsp minced garlic (or 5 cloves garlic, minced)
- 1/4 onion (thinly sliced)
- 1 strip bacon (or pancetta, sliced into 1cm pieces)
- 10 cocktail shrimp (thawed)
- 1 Cheongyang chili pepper (optional, finely chopped if you like it spicy)
- 1 pinch salt
- A little black pepper
- 1 pinch parsley flakes (for garnish)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the ingredients. Thinly slice or mince the garlic. Peel and thinly slice the onion. Slice the bacon into approximately 1cm strips. If using the Cheongyang chili pepper, remove the seeds and finely chop it.
Step 2
Start boiling plenty of water for the ramen noodles. In another pan, melt 1 Tbsp of butter with a little olive oil (optional) and preheat over medium-low heat.
Step 3
Once the water boils, add the ramen noodles and begin cooking. Once the preheated pan is warm, add the minced garlic and sliced onion first, sautéing until fragrant. As the garlic and onion become translucent, add the sliced bacon and cocktail shrimp and stir-fry until golden brown. Season with 1 pinch of salt and a little black pepper.
Step 4
When the noodles are almost cooked, drain them and get ready to transfer them to the pan. Once the ingredients in the pan are well-cooked, pour in 1 paper cup of milk and add the 2 slices of processed cheese to melt. Finally, add only 1/2 of the ramen soup packet to enhance the umami flavor instead of using all the seasoning. (Adjust the amount if using a spicy ramen packet).
Step 5
Once the sauce begins to simmer, add the cooked noodles and the chopped Cheongyang chili pepper (optional). Stir well to coat the noodles evenly with the sauce and simmer for another 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly. Once the sauce has reduced to your desired consistency, turn off the heat. Transfer to a nice serving dish and sprinkle with parsley flakes for a beautiful finish. Your elegant Carbonara Ramen is complete!
