Super Simple Beef Pancake (Yukjeon)
Make Elegant Beef Pancakes (Yukjeon) Easily and Affordably with Bulgogi-cut Beef!
Today, I’m sharing a way to enjoy elegant and delicious beef pancakes (Yukjeon) without any special ingredients or complicated steps, using just a handful of bulgogi-cut beef from your fridge. You can make it incredibly easily without marinating the meat separately or preparing complex sauces. It’s a perfect way to use leftover meat and is fantastic as a side dish or a snack with drinks!
Yukjeon Ingredients- 150g Bulgogi-cut beef
- 1/4 Green onion
- 2 Eggs
- All-purpose flour, as needed
- Salt, to taste
- Pepper, to taste
Simple Onion Dipping Sauce- 1/4 Onion
- 4 Tbsp Soy sauce
- 2 Tbsp Sugar
- 1 Tbsp Vinegar
- 1/4 Onion
- 4 Tbsp Soy sauce
- 2 Tbsp Sugar
- 1 Tbsp Vinegar
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the dipping sauce and toppings for your Yukjeon. Finely chop the green onion and thinly slice the onion. Slicing the onion thinly will keep it delightfully crisp when added to the sauce.
Step 2
Gently pat dry the bulgogi-cut beef with a paper towel to remove excess blood, then spread it out flat. Season it lightly with salt and pepper. If any pieces are particularly thick, you can score them lightly with a knife.
Step 3
Coat the seasoned beef evenly with all-purpose flour. A thin layer of flour helps the egg wash adhere better and results in a neater pancake. Lightly shake off any excess flour.
Step 4
Now it’s time to prepare the egg wash. Crack the 2 eggs into a bowl and whisk them well. Carefully coat the prepared beef pieces with the egg wash. Heat a frying pan over medium-low heat with a generous amount of cooking oil. Place the egg-coated beef into the heated pan, spreading it out without letting the pieces touch each other. If you have several smaller pieces of meat, you can press them together to form a single larger pancake for a nicer presentation.
Step 5
As the beef begins to turn golden brown, generously sprinkle the chopped green onions on top. The sweet aroma of the green onions will blend beautifully with the beef, creating a richer flavor.
Step 6
Check if the bottom side is golden brown, then carefully flip the Yukjeon. Cook the other side evenly, pressing down gently to ensure the side with the green onions is also nicely browned. Your delicious Yukjeon is ready!
Step 7
While the Yukjeon is cooking, let’s make the dipping sauce! In a small bowl, combine the thinly sliced onions with 4 tablespoons of soy sauce, 2 tablespoons of sugar, and 1 tablespoon of vinegar. Stir well and let it sit for a moment to allow the flavors to meld. Serving this sauce with your Yukjeon creates a perfect pairing!
