Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Start with two slices of cold Cheddar cheese, straight from the refrigerator. Keeping the cheese cold makes it easier to cut neatly. Use a knife to cut the cheese slices into bite-sized pieces, about 1 cm apart. Pieces about the width of your finger joint work well, but thicker cuts are also delicious!
Step 2
Arrange the cut cheese pieces in a single layer on your air fryer basket or baking sheet. Make sure they aren’t touching each other; spacing them out allows air to circulate for even crisping.
Step 3
Now, bake them in a preheated air fryer or oven at 170-180°C (340-350°F) for about 1 minute and 20 seconds to 1 minute and 30 seconds. (Cooking time may vary slightly depending on your appliance, so keep a close eye on them once the cheese starts to melt and brown.) They are ready when the cheese puffs up and the edges turn golden.
Step 4
Carefully remove the baked cheese crisps and let them cool completely on a wire rack. They will be soft when hot but will turn wonderfully crisp on the outside and satisfyingly chewy on the inside as they cool. Once fully cooled, enjoy their delightful crunch with your favorite beverage, perhaps a cold beer for a perfect pairing!
