- 1 Korean green chili pepper (optional, for extra spice)
- 0.5 stalk Scallion (white part)
Flavoring Sauce- 50ml Soy sauce
- 50ml Water
- 2 Tbsp Sesame oil
- 1 Tbsp Sugar
- 1 handful Toasted sesame seeds (adjust to taste)
- 50ml Soy sauce
- 50ml Water
- 2 Tbsp Sesame oil
- 1 Tbsp Sugar
- 1 handful Toasted sesame seeds (adjust to taste)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, carefully crack the fresh eggs and separate the yolks from the whites. You can save the egg whites for other dishes like salads or omelets. Place the separated yolks one by one into a clean, dry airtight container. Be gentle to avoid breaking the yolks.
Step 2
Now, let’s prepare the vegetables that will add flavor to your marinade. Finely mince the onion, garlic, red chili, Korean green chili, and scallion. Minced garlic will deepen the flavor, while the chilies add a pleasant spiciness to cut through richness. The chopped scallion adds a fresh aroma.
Step 3
Time to make the amazing sauce! In a bowl, combine 50ml of soy sauce and 50ml of water. Add 1 tablespoon of sugar for a touch of sweetness. Next, mix in 2 tablespoons of sesame oil, the minced garlic, minced chilies, and chopped scallion. Finally, sprinkle in a handful of toasted sesame seeds for a nutty flavor and texture. Stir everything together until well combined.
Step 4
Gently pour the prepared sauce over the egg yolks in the container. To prevent the yolks from moving or breaking, it’s best to pour the sauce slowly along the sides of the container. Make sure to securely close the lid of the container to seal it.
Step 5
Now, let the egg yolk marinade mature! Place the container in the refrigerator and let it chill for at least 5 hours, or preferably overnight (about 12-24 hours). As time passes, the egg yolks will absorb the savory flavors of the marinade, developing a richer and deeper taste. It’s absolutely delicious served over a bowl of warm rice!
