Ingredients- 100g cake flour (sifted)
- 30g vegetable oil (use a neutral oil like canola or grapeseed)
- 1 large egg (room temperature)
- 30g sugar (granulated or brown)
- 1 pinch of salt (approx. 0.5g)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, measure and prepare all your ingredients. (I almost forgot the salt in the photo, but make sure to include it!) It’s best to have the egg at room temperature so it incorporates smoothly with the other ingredients.
Step 2
In a mixing bowl, combine the sifted cake flour (100g), sugar (30g), and a pinch of salt. Lightly mix them together. Next, pour in the vegetable oil (30g) and stir with a spatula until no dry flour is visible. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the biscuits tough.
Step 3
Add the room-temperature egg (1 egg) to the bowl. Gently mix until the dough comes together into a cohesive ball. If the dough seems too wet, add a little more flour. If it’s too dry, add a tiny bit more oil to reach the desired consistency. Now, you can use cookie cutters to shape the dough or gently form small, flattened rounds with your hands. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or foil, leaving some space between each biscuit. Shaping them nicely adds to the baking fun!
Step 4
Bake in a preheated oven at 170°C (340°F) for 22 minutes. Baking time and temperature may vary depending on your oven, so keep an eye on them. They are ready when the tops turn a nice golden brown. Be sure to check periodically to ensure they aren’t burning.
Step 5
Carefully remove the baked egg biscuits from the oven and the baking sheet while they are still warm. Let them cool completely on a wire rack. As they cool, they will become even crispier and more flavorful. Once cooled, store the egg biscuits in an airtight container to maintain their delicious crispness.
