Ingredients (Makes 4 servings in 260cc cups)

  • 2 pints (approx. 500-600g) fresh strawberries
  • 200cc cold heavy cream (minimum 35% fat content recommended)
  • 16g granulated sugar (for whipping cream)
  • 200cc vanilla ice cream
  • Granola, to taste
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, wash the strawberries thoroughly and remove the stems. Set aside 4 perfectly shaped strawberries for garnishing the top. Cut the remaining strawberries in half or quarters. Cutting them this way will allow their beautiful cut surfaces to be showcased inside the cup, making the dessert more appealing.

Step 1

Step 2

In a chilled bowl, combine the cold heavy cream with the 16g of granulated sugar. Whip the cream using a hand mixer or whisk until stiff peaks form. Stiff peaks mean the cream will hold its shape and won’t easily collapse. Chill the whipped cream in the refrigerator while you prepare the other ingredients.

Step 2

Step 3

Begin assembling your Strawberry Bong Bong. In clear cups, spread a layer of the whipped cream, about 1cm thick, at the bottom. This adds a nice base layer and prevents the granola from mixing too much with the cream later.

Step 3

Step 4

Next, add a layer of granola over the whipped cream. Granola provides a delightful crunch and nutty flavor, creating textural contrast within the cup. Adjust the amount according to your preference – too much can make it feel heavy.

Step 4

Step 5

Now, arrange the cut strawberry pieces along the inside walls of the cup. Position them so the cut surfaces face outwards, creating a visually stunning strawberry pattern. This step is key to achieving the signature look of the Strawberry Bong Bong.

Step 5

Step 6

Fill the central cavity of the cup with the vanilla ice cream (200cc). The cold, sweet ice cream perfectly complements the fresh strawberries and creamy layers.

Step 6

Step 7

Gently pipe or spoon a small dollop of whipped cream on top of the ice cream. Then, place one of the whole strawberries you reserved earlier onto the cream. The cream acts as a little ‘glue’ to hold the strawberry in place.

Step 7

Step 8

Continue by piping more whipped cream generously around the base of the whole strawberry, creating a lush, mound-like shape, similar to a flower blooming.

Step 8

Step 9

Finally, carefully arrange the remaining whole strawberries on top of the whipped cream, covering it completely. The strawberries should stand tall, resembling a beautiful crown or a bouquet.

Step 9

Step 10

Finish by dusting the top with powdered sugar using a fine-mesh sieve for a snowy effect. For an extra touch of charm, add a marshmallow or a sprig of mint. Your stunning Strawberry Bong Bong is ready to be enjoyed immediately!
