Main Ingredients- 100g Ggwari Gochu (Korean chili peppers)
- 1/4 cup Pancake Mix (buchim garu)
- 1/2 Tbsp Sesame Oil
- 1/2 Tbsp Toasted Sesame Seeds
Spicy & Sweet Seasoning- 1.5 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- 0.5 Tbsp Gochugaru (Korean chili flakes)
- 0.5 Tbsp Oligodang (corn syrup)
- 0.3 Tbsp Minced Garlic
- 1.5 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- 0.5 Tbsp Gochugaru (Korean chili flakes)
- 0.5 Tbsp Oligodang (corn syrup)
- 0.3 Tbsp Minced Garlic
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Start by washing the Ggwari Gochu thoroughly under running water and remove the stems. Then, use a fork to poke a few small holes in each pepper. This helps the seasoning penetrate better and prevents them from bursting while steaming.
Step 2
Next, coat the pierced Ggwari Gochu evenly with the pancake mix. Gently shake off any excess powder to ensure a light coating.
Step 3
Arrange the coated peppers in a steamer basket over boiling water. Steam them for about 5 minutes. Once steamed, remove them from the steamer and let them cool slightly. This allows excess moisture to evaporate, enhancing their chewy and crisp texture.
Step 4
In a small bowl, combine the seasoning ingredients: 1.5 Tbsp soy sauce, 0.5 Tbsp gochugaru, 0.5 Tbsp oligodang, and 0.3 Tbsp minced garlic. Mix well with a spoon to create a delicious seasoning sauce. You can adjust the sweetness with oligodang and the savory flavor with soy sauce.
Step 5
Add the prepared seasoning sauce to the slightly cooled steamed peppers. Gently toss them to coat evenly. Finally, drizzle with 0.5 Tbsp sesame oil and sprinkle 0.5 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds. Your delicious and flavorful Ggwari Gochu Jjim is ready to be served! It’s perfect as a side dish for rice or as a snack.
