Salad Ingredients- 1 bunch Sea Purslane (approx. 100g)
- 1/4 Onion (approx. 50g)
- 2 Tbsp Gochugaru (Korean chili flakes)
- 7 Tbsp Cham Sauce (or 5 Tbsp soy sauce + 2 Tbsp vinegar)
- Pinch of sesame seeds
- 1 Tbsp Sesame Oil
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, to ensure the freshest sea purslane, remove any tough stems and discard wilted or yellowing leaves. Preparing the sea purslane properly is the key to a crisp and delicious salad.
Step 2
Gently rinse the prepared sea purslane multiple times under running water, shaking it to remove any dirt or debris hidden between the leaves. This step is crucial for maintaining its crisp texture and fresh flavor.
Step 3
After washing, it’s important to drain the sea purslane thoroughly. Place it in a colander to let the excess water drip off. If not drained well, the dressing can become diluted and the salad may taste bland.
Step 4
To add more flavor to the salad, thinly slice 1/4 of an onion. Thinly sliced onions blend better with the sea purslane and absorb the dressing evenly, making the salad even more delicious.
Step 5
In a large bowl, combine the drained sea purslane and the thinly sliced onion. Now you are ready to mix in the flavorful dressing.
Step 6
First, add 2 tablespoons of gochugaru (Korean chili flakes) and lightly toss with the sea purslane and onion to coat them. This helps reduce any potential bitterness from the chili flakes and evenly distributes the vibrant color. This step also helps prevent the greens from breaking apart.
Step 7
Pour in 7 tablespoons of Cham Sauce and 1 tablespoon of sesame oil. Gently mix everything together with your hands, being careful not to mash the greens. Ensure the dressing is evenly distributed. You can substitute Cham Sauce with a mixture of 5 tablespoons soy sauce and 2 tablespoons vinegar.
Step 8
Taste the salad and adjust seasoning if needed, adding a pinch of salt if necessary. Finally, sprinkle a generous amount of sesame seeds for a nutty aroma to complete your delicious sea purslane salad.
Step 9
Serve your freshly made sea purslane salad on a beautiful plate. This salad, packed with the fresh and fragrant flavors of spring, pairs wonderfully with any meal, especially grilled meats or a bowl of warm rice. Enjoy your meal!
