  • Category : Side dish
  • Ingredient Category : Vegetables
  • Occasion : Everyday
  • Cooking : Seasoned mix
  • Servings : 2 servings
  • Cooking Time : Within 15 minutes
  • Difficulty : Anyone

Main Ingredients

  • Spring cabbage, cut, 3 large handfuls
  • Minced garlic, 1 Tbsp
  • Minced green onion, 1.5 Tbsp

Seasoning

  • Salt, 0.5 Tbsp + (adjust to taste)
  • Perilla oil, 2 Tbsp (generous amount for rich aroma)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Cut the spring cabbage into bite-sized pieces. Bring a pot of water to a rolling boil with a pinch of salt. Blanch the cabbage for about 2 minutes. It’s important to keep it slightly crisp, so avoid overcooking.

Step 1

Step 2

Immediately rinse the blanched cabbage under cold running water to cool it down. Squeeze out as much water as possible. Just like squeezing cucumbers or other vegetables, thoroughly wringing out the water prevents the namul from becoming watery and helps it absorb the seasoning well.

Step 2

Step 3

To the squeezed cabbage, add the minced garlic and minced green onion. Now, add the seasoning ingredients: salt and perilla oil. Perilla oil has a wonderful aroma, so using 2 tablespoons generously will enhance the flavor significantly. Start with 0.5 tablespoon of salt and add more as needed after tasting.

Step 3

Step 4

Gently toss all the ingredients and seasoning together. Mix without crushing the cabbage too much, ensuring the seasoning is evenly distributed. It’s ready to serve immediately!

Step 4

Step 5

Your delicious spring cabbage namul is ready! Enjoy the crisp texture, savory taste, and the fragrant aroma of perilla oil that stimulates your appetite. It’s a perfect side dish for rice or to accompany other meals.
