Spicy Tuna Spaghetti [Dish using Canned Chili Tuna]
Here’s a delightful spicy tuna spaghetti made using canned tuna, a pantry staple! We’ve balanced the robust flavor of the chili tuna by adding fresh tomatoes, making it a delicious and approachable dish for everyone.
Ingredients- Spaghetti noodles 80g
- 1 small tomato
- 1 small onion
- 1/2 king oyster mushroom
- 3-4 Tbsp chili tuna
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Boil the spaghetti noodles in plenty of water seasoned with salt and a little oil.
Step 2
Tip: Adding oil prevents the noodles from sticking together, while salt seasons them from the inside and helps them absorb sauce better. Don’t discard the pasta water (pasta water) – it’s essential for achieving the perfect sauce consistency!
Step 3
Score the skin of the tomato with a cross (+) shape. Dip it in warm water to easily peel off the skin.
Step 4
Tip: As you dip the tomato, the skin around the score marks will start to curl. Gently peel it off from there.
Step 5
Dice the peeled tomato into large chunks, removing the core. Slice the king oyster mushroom into half-moons. Thinly slice the onion.
Step 6
Heat a lightly oiled pan over medium heat. Add the tomatoes, onions, and king oyster mushrooms and sauté until the vegetables soften and release their aromas.
Step 7
Once the onions become translucent, add the cooked spaghetti and the chili tuna (including its oil) to the pan. Stir-fry to combine everything well.
Step 8
Gradually add about half a ladle of the reserved pasta water, stirring and letting it simmer and thicken. Repeating this process 2-3 times helps the sauce coat the noodles beautifully and melds the flavors together.
