- A little cabbage
- A little cucumber
- A little onion
- A little lettuce
For the Sauce
- 1 Tbsp Gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 1.5 Tbsp Sugar
- 0.5 Tbsp Strawberry Jam
- 2 Tbsp Corn Syrup
- 3 Tbsp Vinegar
- 1 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- 1 Tbsp Gochugaru (Korean chili flakes)
- 1 Tbsp Sesame Oil
- 1 Tbsp Gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 1.5 Tbsp Sugar
- 0.5 Tbsp Strawberry Jam
- 2 Tbsp Corn Syrup
- 3 Tbsp Vinegar
- 1 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- 1 Tbsp Gochugaru (Korean chili flakes)
- 1 Tbsp Sesame Oil
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
1. Prepare your vegetables. Thinly slice the green onion, cabbage, cucumber, and onion. Wash the lettuce leaves and set aside. You can adjust the types and amounts of vegetables based on your preference, but these provide a good balance of crunch and freshness.
Step 2
2. Cook the Jjolmyeon noodles according to the package instructions, typically 3-5 minutes until chewy. Once cooked, immediately drain and rinse them thoroughly under cold running water. Gently rub the noodles as you rinse to remove excess starch and prevent them from sticking, ensuring a delightful chewy texture.
Step 3
3. Combine the noodles with some of the prepared vegetables. Add the sliced cabbage, cucumber, onion, and green onion to a large bowl with the drained noodles. Reserve some of the vegetables for garnish later. Mixing them now allows the flavors to meld beautifully.
Step 4
4. Prepare the sweet and sour sauce. In a separate small bowl, combine 1 Tbsp Gochujang, 1.5 Tbsp sugar, 0.5 Tbsp strawberry jam, 2 Tbsp corn syrup, 3 Tbsp vinegar, 1 Tbsp soy sauce, 1 Tbsp gochugaru, and 1 Tbsp sesame oil. Whisk until all ingredients are well combined and the sauce is smooth.
Step 5
5. Pour the prepared sauce over the noodles and vegetables. Gently toss everything together until the noodles and vegetables are evenly coated with the sauce. Be careful not to overmix, as this can break the noodles. Transfer the well-mixed Jjolmyeon to a serving bowl.
Step 6
6. Garnish the Jjolmyeon with the reserved fresh vegetables, such as lettuce leaves and remaining sliced vegetables. Enjoy your homemade Jjolmyeon! This simple recipe is perfect for those days when you need a flavorful meal to stimulate your appetite.
