Main Ingredients- 1 pack Bibimmyeon noodles
- 1 can Canned Conch
- 1 Hard-boiled egg
- 30g Green onion (white part mostly)
Flavor Enhancers- 0.5 Tbsp Store-bought Gochujang (chili paste)
- 3-4 Tbsp Conch can liquid
- 0.5 Tbsp Store-bought Gochujang (chili paste)
- 3-4 Tbsp Conch can liquid
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare all the ingredients needed for your ‘Gol-bibim-myeon’. Washing and trimming them beforehand will make the cooking process much smoother.
Step 2
Wash the green onion thoroughly and slice the white part diagonally. Soak the sliced green onion in cold water for about 5 minutes to mellow its sharpness while retaining its crispness. Cut the hard-boiled egg into 2-4 bite-sized pieces as desired. Open the can of conch.
Step 3
Carefully pour the liquid from the canned conch into a separate small bowl; don’t discard it! This liquid will add a wonderful depth of flavor to your sauce. Drain the conch and cut them into two bite-sized pieces. With these steps, your ingredient preparation is complete!
Step 4
Now it’s time to cook the noodles. Bring a generous amount of water to a boil. Add the bibimmyeon noodles and cook for about 30 seconds to 1 minute longer than the package instructions suggest (typically around 3 minutes). Once cooked to your liking, immediately drain the noodles and rinse them thoroughly under cold running water to remove excess starch and achieve a springy texture. Drain them well in a colander.
Step 5
Place the drained bibimmyeon noodles into a large mixing bowl. Add the prepared conch pieces and the essential bibimmyeon liquid seasoning packet. Gently toss everything together to start mixing.
Step 6
To enhance the flavor profile, add 0.5 tablespoon of store-bought gochujang. This adds a nice kick of sweet and spicy notes, but be mindful of the amount to avoid overpowering the original bibimmyeon flavor.
Step 7
Pour in 3-4 tablespoons of the reserved conch liquid. This liquid is the secret ingredient that perfects the sauce’s consistency and adds a savory umami boost. Stir well to combine.
Step 8
Now for the fun part: mixing! Use your left hand to mix, and your right hand to mix! ♬♪ Vigorously mix everything together, ensuring the sauce coats every strand of noodle and conch piece evenly. Thorough mixing is key for the flavors to meld beautifully.
Step 9
Transfer the perfectly mixed ‘Gol-bibim-myeon’ to a serving dish. Garnish with the crisp green onions you prepared earlier and the sliced hard-boiled egg. Your delicious and visually appealing ‘Gol-bibim-myeon’ is now complete! Enjoy your meal!
